FIRST LEGO League - a challenge for both heart and brain
Astrid Avenberg Rosell and Christian Idström from LIRC had the great pleasure to participate in one FIRST LEGO League competition and will share their experiences and learnings.
FIRST® LEGO® League is the most accessible, guided, global robotics competition, helping students and teachers to build a better future together. The program is built around theme-based Challenges to engage children ages 9 to 16* in research, problem solving, coding, and engineering. The foundation of the program is the FIRST® Core Values, which emphasize teamwork, discovery, and innovation. Students emerge more confident, excited, and equipped with the skills they need in a changing workforce. When students are engaged in hands-on STEM experiences, they build confidence, grow their knowledge and develop habits of learning. When adults coach these students, they encourage them to try, fail, and try again, while connecting STEM concepts to real-world examples. STEM is a curriculum based on the idea of educating students in four specific disciplines — science, technology, engineering and mathematics — in an interdisciplinary and applied approach. |

At this meeting on Tuesday April 14th, we will share our experiences during this Easter 2020, that is a non-ordinary Easter. How was your Easter? How did you feel and what did you do? How are you coping now?
We will also learn about a tool called Club Visioning, from Christian Idström our incoming president, that is being rolled out by Rotary. It's a strategic tool involving members of the club to create the way forward for the club.

Let’s reflect, discuss and learn together! They say that every cloud has a silver lining and it seems like digital meetings has been the silver lining for LIRC during these Covid-19 times. Attendee numbers have gone up, interaction is high and very inclusive. Feedback after the meetings talks about a positive mindset and a feeling of togetherness, not to mention the increased accessability and time saving that lies in meeting digitally. We will discuss the following questions in the meeting. -How do you perceive digital meetings? Has your perception of them changed during the last months? -In what way can LIRC benefit from our learnings in meeting in different ways? -What will the future LIRC meetings look like according to you?
Your views and ideas are important and together we shape the future LIRC with purpose and meaning. Please reflect on the questions and come ready to share. Looking forward to seeing you all in the meeting! |

At this Club Meeting Annika Svensson Dalgren will handover the Presidency of Lund International Rotary Club to Christian Idström. During my presidential year we have achieved a lot of things, thanks to many of you, that have contributed.
I especially want to thank the board and all heads of committees, project leaders, and members that have stepped up, for their outstanding support. Without you, we would not have been as successful in our delivery of our anchored plan for 2019/2020.
We have proven that we can deliver support to global and local projects, we can adopt early, in an extraordinary situation, and be agile when we handled the Covid-19 situation by changing to virtual meetings.
We have attracted 3 new members, from the US, Portugal and Japan, so we have members living on other continents, and we have attracted international participants to our meetings. We have developed our cooperation and relationships with MIRC and CIRC, the International Rotary Clubs in the greater Copenhagen area. We are now an International Club for real!
We have had a good balance between efficient structure and positive atmosphere at our meetings, and we have almost doubled the attendance during the virtual meetings. The virtual meetings have brought us closer, and we have inspired other Rotary clubs as well as our District 2390.
We have generated a lot of good ideas, during this year, on how to generate more funds for our projects. I have used my inclusive, supportive, leadership style to serve our club in a sustainable way. And I'm looking forward to be Past President and support Christian going forward, when he will be standing at the helm. //Annika
As your Incoming President, I would like to remind you that the Presidential Handover is normally a portentous occasion. Please do not assume it is less important this time. I look forward to seeing many of you on location on June 23, it will also be possible to participate remotely via the Teams link below. I look forward to sharing my gratitude for the way Annika and her team has brought our Club forward and introducing my team and some of my ideas for the future with you. // Christian.
